Queer-baiting

This term describes films and books marketed to make it seem as if they include same-sex or LGBTQ+ relationships, when they do not. It may also be used for actors or other performers whose behaviour hints at their being gay - perhaps to promote an image - when, in fact, they are heterosexual or have not come out as gay.
