All work and no play?

The average time people spend on leisure has declined since the 1980s, OECD data shows, and decreased sharply in a number of countries during the 2010s — such as 14 per cent in South Korea, 11 per cent in Spain, 6 per cent in the Netherlands. One explanation is that parents now spend more time on childcare than earlier generations did. Another is that mobile digital technology has increased employees’ availability, making it easier for work to continue into evenings and weekends.
